Congratulations to Josh Moeller, Cailee Peterson, Kailer Riedman and Solveig Twedt on being named to the All State Music Choir roster! They were chosen from among students from both Class A and B schools. Auditions were held earlier this winter. They will take part in rehearsals and performances in Bismarck March 20 through 22. The MPCG Speech Team traveled to Thompson last Saturday to compete against nine other schools. The team was comprised of four members, Teri Nelson, Ava Nelson, Kyra Mortenson and Kailer Riedman and they amassed 47 points together. Individual results are as follows: Ava Nelson ~ 7th in Serious; Kyra Mortenson ~ 4th in Inform, Top Novice in Serious; Kailer Riedman ~ defended his Quadruple crown from last year’s tournament with a 1st in Serious, 1st in Poetry, 1st in Humorous, and 1st in Dramatic, triple qualifying for state.

Congratulations to Josh Moeller for winning first prize and a check for $100 in the print-making category at the Student Art Show at Moorhead State University last Friday. Also submitting their works of art were Julianna Barker, Emily Vaagene, Caitlin Gibson and Kailer Riedman.

SCHOLARSHIPS North Dakota Dollars for Scholars: JoAnn Link Hetzel Vocational/Technical/Trade School Scholarship: Students attending a vocational or technical trade school. Students studying mechanics, electrical, welding, or surveying will receive preference. Amount: $1000 (16) Due: April 1st. Dr. Fradkin Regional Community Service Scholarship: Eight $500 scholarships are available to high school senior students within a DFS community who excel in community service. A minimum of one $500 scholarship will be awarded per region in North Dakota. Due: April 1st. North Dakota Assess Network Scholarship: A minimum of one $500 scholarship will be awarded to a senior in each Dollars for Scholars community in North Dakota based on economic need. Due: April 1st. North Dakota Military Scholarship: $1000 Scholarships (14) will be awarded to dependents of members of a North Dakota military unit/installation. Requires 2.5 GPA. Due: April 1st. Bill and Jean Guy Leadership Scholarship: Developing leaders for the future of North Dakota is the overall goal of this scholarship. One student will be selected to receive $6,000 for use during the remaining time in post-secondary education. This student will be someone who demonstrates strong leadership skills and a commitment to giving back in North Dakota. The scholarship is available to a North Dakota student attending any North Dakota or Red River Valley (Concordia, Crookston, or Moorhead) post-secondary institution, and who has intentions of working in North Dakota after graduation. It is time for us to start thinking about our Student Led Conferences. We will designate 3 Thursdays of Patriot Pride Time to work on these presentations. February 4, 11 and18 will be dedicated to this task. Seniors w/privileges will need to be there on those days. If in STW or OWE, you must make arrangements to meet with your PPT Advisor at other times.

MPCG Snowball Week is February 1– 6! Monday – PJ Day with Bingo; Tuesday – Animal Day with Minute to Win It; Wednesday – Class Color Day ( 9-Red, 10-White, 11-Blue, 12-Black; Thursday – Parent Day with Dodgeball; and Friday – Flannel Day with Family Feud. Hat Licenses will be sold. The Dance will be semi-formal.

High school students who would like to make changes to their schedules for Second Semester must talk to Mr. Ulland, and complete the orange form, found in the office, ASAP; deadline is this Friday, January 22. The forms must be returned to the office.

JUNIORS: The deadline to return your Post Prom Raffle Tickets is February 1st. When you’ve sold your tickets bring the money and ticket stubs to the office.

The MPCG Speech Team has its first State Qualifier of the year!May-Port CG competed against 20 other teams this past Saturday, January 16th at Valley City high school in a meet that was bigger than State Class B Speech. Individual results are as follows: Kailer Riedman: 4th in Serious, 2nd in Dramatic (State Qualifying), and 1st out of 51 competitors in Humorous, also State Qualifying. Congratulations!

The Wrestler Team hosts the Red River Showdown today starting at 4:30, as well as the Invitational tomorrow beginning at 10:00. The Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball Teams will leave tomorrow morning at 9:15 to play in Devils Lake (girls at the Sweetwater Gym at 12:00, boys at the Sports Center a 3:00).
