Mayville State University is offering the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course to train instructor candidates to teach courses and presentations in the ARC Swimming and Water Safety Program. Must be 16 years or older; Classes are May 31 through June 3, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Cost is $245. Also offered is Lifeguard Training Recertification on Wednesday, May 18 starting at 5:30. Individuals who took the Lifeguard training class in 2014 need to recertify. This will include a practical swimming test and CPR and First Aid practical and written tests. Cost is $60. To pre-register call Rebecca Gunderson at 788-4841 or email to becky.gunderson. Information sheets are available on the shelf outside the office.

Traill District Health Unit and Steel County Public Health are sponsoring a Babysitting Class June 2 in the basement of the Goose River Bank in Mayville. Registration is at 8:45 AM, with class starting promptly at 9:00. Class will end by 2:30 PM. There will be 2-10 minute breaks, along with a ½ hour lunch break; bring you own lunch. Cost is $20. Topics to be covered include child nutrition, fire safety, shaken baby, poison safety, first aid, and responsibilities of a babysitter, infant care and feeding. Don’t miss the local movie premiere of “Westall”, a short film by MPCG alum, Zach Wentz, at the DelChar Theatre Friday evening, May 6 at 8:00. Others with MPCG ties appearing in the film are McKade Riedman, Kailer Riedman, Haley Mehus and Harry Lipsiea. This sci-fi movie, set in the 50s, is about 5 kids, high school relationships, alien abductions and shipwrecked UFOs. Welcome to Westall.

The MIDDLE SCHOOL event will take place THURSDAY, MAY 5, as follows: Art Projects will be on display in the high school commons from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. At 7:00 the Middle School Band and Choir will present their Concert in the gym. On THURSDAY, MAY 12, HIGH SCHOOL Art Projects will be displayed in the commons from 5:00 to 9:00. The Spring Play will be presented at 6:00 in the auditorium. The Concert will begin at 7:15 in the gym, with Speech Performances starting at 8:00 in the auditorium. The Music Boosters invites everyone for ice cream and fellowship following both concerts!

Congratulations to our own Emily Roehrich and Skyla Bean, along with the entire cast, including MPCGHS alumni, Brett and Brittany Bachmeier, of "Wind in the Willows", on their wonderful performance last night at Mayville State University! Kenneth Grahame’s entertaining children’s story, the very fine acting and beautiful sets make this a delight for all ages. Treat yourself to the final performance this evening at 7:30 at Old Main Theater, for just $5.

The Boys Basketball Program will be having their awards evening TOMORROW at 7pm in the MPCG HS Auditorium. Following the presentation, families, friends and players may stay for an ice cream social.

Today the Varsity Baseball Team is excused at 9:20 to play in the Carrington Jamboree, which continues tomorrow. Also tomorrow, the Softball Team will take part in the HCV Crossover starting at 10:30 and the Jr. Hi and Varsity Track Teams host the Patriot Relays starting at 10:30. Let’s all come out and support the Patriots!

The Speech Team will perform at Speech Night on May 10th at 7PM in the high school auditorium and again on May 12th at 8 PM.

Four MPCG Speech students competed at the State Class B Speech meet at Mandan High School this past Saturday, April 23. Kyra Mortenson competed in Inform. Helena Kostuck competed in Humorous Interpretation. Colvin Abler in Serious Prose, and Kailer Riedman in both Dramatic Interpretation and Humorous Interpretation. Colvin and Kailer both were awarded All State status and Kailer finaled in Dramatic and took 7th at State! Congrats to the team! The Speech Team will perform at Speech Night on May 10th at 7PM in the high school auditorium and again on May 12th at 8 PM.
