Next Tuesday, October 3, MPCG Seniors will have the opportunity to submit their first round of college applications as part of College Application Month in North Dakota. As an incentive to start planning early and participate in the activities, Bank of North Dakota is paying one $35 application fee per student when they apply to a North Dakota college. In addition, Seniors will attend a College Financial Aid Informational Meeting in the high school auditorium beginning at 2:45 pm. Shirley Hanson, Financial Aid Officer at Mayville State University, will distribute information and explain the financial aid process. Parents are welcome to attend this meeting.

7th Study Hall will go to Mr. Ulland’s study hall in the commons today.

All students interested in becoming a member of FCCLA need to pay dues by next Friday! You will be contacted with T-shirt information coming soon!!!

Starting Next Tuesday, FBLA will be running their membership drive! Pay your dues and receive a special treat each day!

One Act Play rehearsals begin next Monday at 6:30 AM in the auditorium.

Today is “Patriot Pride Day” with the Pep Rally 7th hour. The Football Game is at 7:00 followed by the Homecoming Dance. There will be no beverages allowed in the Homecoming Dance. There will be water available as well as the pop machine will be on. Doors will lock at 10:30 p.m.

The Cheerleaders will be giving out a Spirit Award for both the middle and high school at the Pep Rally today!

Today the Football Team hosts Wyndmere-Lidgerwood at 7:00. Seniors and their parents will be recognized, as well as the Homecoming Royalty. The Pep Band will play as well! Tomorrow the 8th Grade Volleyball Team plays in Central Valley. Let’s all come out and support the Patriots!

Congratulations to Shawn Klabo for placing 8th in the Varsity Cross Country race yesterday! Congratulations to Ahna Mehus for placing 4th and Anna Strand for placing 5th. Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Team for your 3rd place finish, only 4 points behind number 1 ranked Hillsboro!!!

Congratulations to the 7th & 8th Grade, C-squad, JV & Varsity Volleyball Teams on their wins over Midway-Minto last night!!

Homecoming Week starts Monday, September 25 with National Honor Society Induction at 2:45, followed by the coronation of the Queen and King. The public is invited to attend. Dress-up and Games are as follows: Monday – “Around the World” day with Powder Puff Football (1st & 2nd hrs); Tuesday – “Decade” day with Egg Toss, Tug of War, Food Eating (3rd hr); Wednesday – “Character” day with Dodgeball (5th hr); Thursday – “Sports” day with Volleyball (6th hr); and Friday – “Patriot Pride Day” with Pep Rally (7th hr). The Football Game is at 7:00 Friday followed by the Homecoming Dance. The Volleyball Teams, Cross Country and Jr. Hi and JV Football Teams all have games that week. Let’s all be thinking about costumes and make Patriot Homecoming 2017 the best ever!

Middle School Homecoming days are as follows: Monday – Pajama/Crazy Hair Day with Dodgeball for 6th graders in the gym at noon, and musical chairs at common time. Tuesday – 80’s Day with Dodgeball for 7th graders in the gym at noon, and rock/paper/scissors at common time. Wednesday – Disney Day with Dodgeball for 8th graders in the gym at noon, and paper airplane toss during common time. Thursday – Nerd Day with Dodgeball for the winner from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the gym at noon, and Friday – Patriot Pride Day with the Pep Rally. Hat licenses will be sold for $2.00 every morning in Mrs. M Johnson’s room. Buy a license once for all week. Homeroom teachers will have all of the details for the various activities.

Student Picture Proofs will be handed out today in English classes. They are due back in the office this Friday at 4:00.

One Act Play auditions will be tomorrow and Friday mornings at 7:00 in the auditorium.

The MPCG FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Chapter will host it’s kick-off event at DelChar Theatre, TONIGHT at 7 PM, for all students grades 9-12 interested in joining. The movie “Woodlawn” will be shown, and there will be discussion about the year’s activities. $5 admission will include the movie, popcorn and pop. If payment is a problem, see Mr. Bradner. All coaches and teachers are invited. There will be an FCA Student Leader meeting today at 3:05 in the Commons.

SCHOLARSHIPS Better Business Bureau’s Student of Integrity Scholarship: Offering Student of Integrity Scholarships for Minnesota and North Dakota high school students beginning their senior year. These scholarships are designed to recognize and promote ethics and integrity among young people, and will be awarded to students who demonstrate high character in their personal choices and actions. There are six scholarships available – one for $5,000, three for $2,500 and two for $1,000. Students are asked to write an essay that gives a personal example of how they were challenged or struggled through a difficult situation and how they overcame the situation by the application of integrity and personal ethics. This must be accompanied by the scholarship entry form, one letter of recommendation, a copy of their high school transcript, a list of extracurricular activities and any post-secondary education plans. And as Homecoming Honor Escorts, Juniors Cora Knudsvig and Dante Agnes, Sophomores Cora McClenahen and Jackson Rexine, and Freshmen Addison Domier and Shawn Klabo. These students will meet in the commons TOMORROW at 10:10 for a picture. Voting for Queen and King will take place in high school English classes this Friday; Comp. I students will vote in the office. Coronation will take place next Monday afternoon following National Honor Society Induction which will be at 2:45 in the auditorium.
