This year we have had a super influx of damaged books returned to the library. Chewed on (human and animal), torn pages, and water/mud damaged books that I cannot repair. Students are even turning in or not turning in books months late. Books are checked out for 1-2 weeks and can be renewed once. Multiple reminders have been given to those students who have overdue books. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE teach the children responsibility, care and pride in the books they borrow from our wonderful libraries and return them on time. Many children are not able to enjoy the same book that was damaged and they are very spendy when it comes down to it. Check your child’s mail for library reminders. I do plan to send out a reminder at the end of the quarter to all student who have books checked out of our library.
