Cookie Grams will be for sale this week during common time in the FACS room on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for ONE DOLLAR! When you bring it back filled in to the FACS room, the FCCLA cherubs will attach it to a cookie and deliver them to lockers on Tuesday, February 13. A big Thanks to Mrs. Torgeson, the Student Council and the Cheerleaders for a successful Snowball Week! Lots of great activities and Pep Rally for our winter sports.

MPCG 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team went 2-0 at the Larimore Jamboree. In the first game, the 7th Graders beat Larimore 22-6. In the second game, the Patriots defeated Dakota Prairie 36-15.

Congrats to the JV Girls Basketball Team for their 2 wins on Saturday! It all started with their defense. In both games they held the opponent scoreless for a full quarter!

The Jr. Hi Speech Team competed in Northwood on Saturday and took 1st place overall with 92 points! Individual results are as follows: Elsie Twedt– 4th in Serious, 3rd in Inform; Oliver Marquardt – 3rd in Humorous; Teri Nelson – 8th in Humorous, 1st in Humorous Duo; Kyra Mortenson– 2nd in Humorous Duo, 2nd in Serious, 1st in Inform; Malena Twedt – 2nd in Entertain, 1st in Storytelling, 1st in Humorous Duo; Lily Moch – 2nd in Humorous Duo, 1st in Dramatic, 1st in Serious. The team next competes at Northern Cass February 10th.

Congratulations to Rylee Thompson for winning both matches in Regional Team Duals last Saturday, beating the 2nd –ranked 152 pound wrestler in a decision of 9 to 3. Rylee also placed 2nd out of a 12-man bracket in Larimore the previous Saturday!

Today the Boys Basketball Teams host Midway Minto, 7th and 8th at PBJ beginning at 4:00, and JV and Varsity here starting at 6:00. Let’s all come out and support the Patriots!

This six-week residential program held on the campus of North Dakota State University runs from June 3 – July 13, 2018. Governor’s School offers high-quality, concentrated instruction from NDSU faculty through classroom experiences, discussion groups, labs, field trips, and other activities. Evenings and weekends are reserved for recreational and fine arts activities. The state of North Dakota funds the cost of participation for in-state students accepted into the program. Interested students can learn more about ND Governor’s School at <https://www.ndsu.edu/govschool>. The application deadline is March 1.

Expand Your Horizons ~ On Saturday, April 7, North Dakota State University will host the Math and Science conference "Expand Your Horizons" for girls in grades 7 thru 9. The day consists of hands-on participation in activities led by area professionals with the goal of sparking the spirit and triggering the imagination of young women so they might be encouraged to select courses in high school that lead to opportunities for exciting careers in areas such as engineering, medicine, computer science, math, and business. Participants will attend workshops without their parents or chaperones at North Dakota State University, Minnesota State University Moorhead, Concordia College, Sanford Health, Essentia Health, Veterans Administration Hospital, and other locations in Fargo-Moorhead. A registration fee of $10 covers the cost of lunch, conference expenses, and materials. The registration deadline is February 16. For more information, see Mr. Varriano or Joan.

The 7th and 8th Grade Boys Basketball Teams hosted Thompson last night. In the first game the 7th graders fought back twice before finally losing 31-25. In the 8th grade game the home team started hot from the floor and went on to win 41-24.

Today the Girls Basketball Teams play in Hatton, Jr. Hi excused at 2:50 and starting at 4:00, JV and Varsity leaving at 4:30, and starting at 6:00. Jr. Hi Boys host Central Cass at PBJ starting at 4:00. Tomorrow the Wrestlers compete in Larimore starting at 9:30, the Hockey Team hosts Morris-Benson at 2:00 and Girls Hockey plays at Long Prairie. Let’s all come out and support the Patriots!

Congratulations to Grace Koshney for making it into the All State Music Festival! She’ll be joining other top musicians from around the state, singing with the All State Womens’ Choir in Bismarck in March. This is a huge honor!

Snowball Week is next week! There will be a semi-formal dance on Saturday the 3rd from 9-11:30. Dress up days FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL will be: Monday – PJ Day; Tuesday – Duo Day (example: 2 people work together to make a duo like PB and Jelly); Wednesday – Animal Day; Thursday – UND vs. NDSU; Friday – Flannel Friday. NORTH DAKOTA GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL 2018 ~ If you are a sophomore or junior with above average scholastic abilities and interested in learning more in English studies, information technology, laboratory science, mathematics, architecture, agriculture, or visual arts, become a member of the 2018 ND Governor’s School. This six-week residential program held on the campus of North Dakota State University runs from June 3 – July 13, 2018. Governor’s School offers high-quality, concentrated instruction from NDSU faculty through classroom experiences, discussion groups, labs, field trips, and other activities. Evenings and weekends are reserved for recreational and fine arts activities. The state of North Dakota funds the cost of participation for in-state students accepted into the program. Expand Your Horizons ~ On Saturday, April 7, North Dakota State University will host the Math and Science conference "Expand Your Horizons" for girls in grades 7 thru 9. The day consists of hands-on participation in activities led by area professionals with the goal of sparking the spirit and triggering the imagination of young women so they might be encouraged to select courses in high school that lead to opportunities for exciting careers in areas such as engineering, medicine, computer science, math, and business. Participants will attend workshops without their parents or chaperones at North Dakota State University, Minnesota State University Moorhead, Concordia College, Sanford Health, Essentia Health, Veterans Administration Hospital, and other locations in Fargo-Moorhead. A registration fee of $10 covers the cost of lunch, conference expenses, and materials. The registration deadline is February 16. For more information, see Mr. Varriano or Joan.

Second Quarter Honor Roll is posted on the bulletin board near the kitchen. Students with Incomplete or Failing grades cannot be on the honor roll. Please check it this week, and be sure to talk to Joan if you have questions.

The next FCCLA STAR Event work night is after school TODAY from 3:30 to 4:30.

Seniors, Todd Cameron with Jostens will be here TODAY to meet with you at 2:30 in the auditorium to talk about what you will need to order for Graduation. Be there. Todd Cameron will also meet with Sophomores today, at 3:05 in the auditorium to talk about ordering Class Rings. Class rings are NOT mandatory.

The Booster Club will serve a Chili Feed tomorrow during the basketball games.
