This group focuses on the ever changing world of technology.  The group creates videos, podcasts, edits photos, and creates highlight DVDs for all extracurricular events.

Audio Visual Club  

These students earn a half credit meeting regularly throughout the year to compile the MPCG yearbook. Journalism and photography skills are used, as well as layout and design techniques.

Students in grades 7-12 are welcome to participate in debate which, this year, is Lincoln-Douglas. Current NFL debate topics are researched and taken to competitions Nov. - Jan. Debate teams meet once a  week to prepare for competition. NFL Regionals and state competition wrap up the season the first weekend of February.

This group is open to students in grades 9-12. Each year there is a new environmental current event topic that is studied to give an oral presentation at state. Other topics such as wildlife, forestry, and aquatics are researched and tests are given on them at state. The group has morning meetings to prepare for the state competition. State competition is in the spring.

Family, Career,and Community Leaders of America offers students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to develop leadership skills in all areas of home economics. A state leadership conference is held each year where students may test the skills they have learned. Students who place first at the state level may attend the national conference.

Future Business Leaders of America is an organization for students in grades 9-12 which focuses on business-related subjects. Members compete at the state leadership conference to test the skills they have acquired in business math, keyboarding, proof-reading, and other practical business skills, as well as preparing projects for such causes as handicapped awareness, entrepreneurship,and scrapbook. Students who place 1st at the state level may attend the national conference.

Future Business Leaders of America
 
Students in grades 9-12 who are interested in playing jazz tunes in a more relaxed manner are eligible for this group.  One morning practice each week prepares them for concerts.

  Seniors who have an interest in the banking business may make application for this organization in the fall. One morning meeting each month at the First and Farmers Bank in Portland familiarizes members with banking operations. The group travels to Minneapolis each spring to visit the Grain Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank.

Junior Bank Board of Directors  
   National Honor Society is for juniors and seniors who have maintained a cumulative B+ or better grade average, and who demonstrate good citizenship, leadership and genuine concern for the well-being of others. Members are selected by a faculty committee and an induction ceremony is held. Members of this group participate in community service projects. (Officers only are pictured)

Takes place in the fall with tryouts in late September.  The group performs locally and at regional and state competition in November.  Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate.

  Students in grades 7-12 may take part in the various areas of speech competition such as serious, humorous, extemporaneous, interpretative, in solo or duo format.  Members may take part in speech meets throughout the season (January - March), with regional and state competitions taking place in April.

The middle school and high school each have a student council. All students are welcome to become members of their respective councils by attending meetings regularly. Both groups meet twice each month. Students are involved in fund raising events and sponsor fun activities for the student body.
