Thank you for partnering with us in educating your students. Please remember that accountability and responsibility are two very important pieces to your student’s education. This year in our Middle School our teachers are really focusing on those key pieces of your student’s education. We are doing this by making sure your students know how to use their time wisely while IN SCHOOL. Currently, all work assigned will be completed during class time. If class time is not used wisely and responsibly, students will then have this work to finish prior to the next school day. If this work is not returned complete and no parent communication has been made with the teacher as to why the work is incomplete, your student will serve a detention to complete the unfinished work. Please help us reinforce the habits of accountability and responsibility by reminding your student that by using their class time wisely they are able to complete their work in a timely manner and will not have to worry about getting it done outside of their regularly scheduled class time.

There has been some concern about detention practices at MPCG. The MPCG Student Handbook states on page 6 that detention will be spent in a classroom with a designated instructor. Students on detention are responsible to report to the designated classroom immediately after school with schoolwork in hand. Detention will take place every day from 3:30-4:00. When assigned detention, you will have the day you are notified and the next day to take care of it. On page 12 of the MPCG Student Handbook it does state that there will be no meetings or activities held in the school AFTER 4:00pm on Wednesday for grades K-8 and after 6:00pm for grades 9-12.

We understand that Wednesdays hold many different commitments for our students outside of school. We greatly respect how you choose to raise your children, and we are partners with you in that endeavor. With that said, we know that religious practices do take place on Wednesday. We are going to make a change to the days detention is assigned. Detention will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to better accommodate those who have religious commitments on Wednesday evenings.  If a detention is given on a Wednesday, said student will serve the detention on Thursday morning at 7:30-8:00am in the MPCG office.

My door is ALWAYS open, and I am always available to stop and visit about any concerns that you may have regarding your student’s educational experience here at MPCG.

We are a team; school, family, student. By three of us working together our students will undoubtedly find great success!

Thank you so much,

Mrs. Blotsky
