May-Port CG School District State Assessment 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians:

From March 13th to the beginning of May, our students in grades 3-12 will be taking the North Dakota State Assessment (NDSA). The purpose of this letter is to inform you and give you an understanding of the test. It will also give you a few ideas for helping your child to do his/her best on this test.

All students will be tested in Math and English Language Arts and the 4th, 8th, and 10th graders will be tested in Science.  The NDSA test is an important test for our school district.  It provides useful information about your child’s progress. The test helps both parents and schools see how well we are helping students meet standards in these academic areas.

The most important thing that you can do for your child during testing is make sure that he/she comes to school prepared on the days they have tests.  Testing schedules will be posted on our school website in the near future.  Your child will do his/her best on the tests if they:

  • take the tests seriously and give his or her best effort
  • get to bed early the night before to be well-rested on the day of the test
  • have a good breakfast on the morning of the test
  • be in school and on time

For more information about the State Assessment or to help your child complete Practice or Training Tests please visit the May-Port CG website (http://www.mayportcg.com/), click on the “Menu” tab, under “Resources” select “North Dakota State Assessment.” This will bring you to the North Dakota Testing website where you can select “Students and Families” and “Training Tests.” On the homepage of the practice test site, ensure “Guest User” and “Guest Session” are toggled on; click “Sign On.” Please feel free to contact your school counselor if you encounter an issue.

This testing is very important for your child and the May-Port CG Pubic School District. Let’s do everything in our power to help our children succeed and feel good about themselves for a job well done!

Results from the state testing exams will be distributed via mail before the end of the year. Review the information and have a discussion with your child on their performance. Our goal is that every child is making personal growth. Let’s celebrate these growths together.

Thank you for supporting your child’s education and our school during these tests. Please call Mrs. Halvorson or Mrs. Torgeson if you have any questions.

 Sincerely,

May-Port CG School District Counseling Staff
