Greetings from the May-Port CG Booster Club!

School is just around the corner so we thought it would be a good time to update everyone on the doings of the Booster Club!  We are still looking for new members and would like to encourage our members, whether you have been a member for years or are a new member, to help and play an active role in the club.  We need more hands helping to continue to make Booster Club successful!

Last spring we awarded money to ALL organizations that submitted requisitions to the Booster Club.  Those organizations were: Wresting ($528.99), Hockey ($525.00), Football ($505.00 & $1,300.00), Volleyball ($2,000.00), Cheerleading ($580), and Boys Basketball ($1,571.56) for a grand total of $7,010.55.  How awesome is that!  Coaches will be discussing their purchases at the upcoming parent/player meetings at the beginning of the season.

As you may recall, 2 years ago Booster Club was approached during the fall meeting about spearheading and fundraising money to make improvements to the baseball and softball fields.  There is a lengthy list of improvements that the committee has established and they have tried to prioritize those them.  Improvements to the baseball field that have already been completed include irrigation, improving the grounds in the outfield, and building an entirely new back stop.  Initial groundwork has been done to eventually add new seating with a roof as well as a press box.  On the softball fields asphalt was brought it last summer for a walking path back to the diamonds and pad for the bleachers.  There are plans to build a storage/press box unit for the softball fields, new dugouts, safety nets for foul balls, an additional scoreboard for the south field, and a concession stand renovation.  We are also going to be adding PA systems on both the softball and baseball fields.  This project is work in progress as most of the work that’s been done thus far has been in kind work so it is being done as free time and as funds permit.  There are plans being drawn up and they will be made available once they are complete.  If you should have any questions in regards to this project or would like to volunteer your time and talent, whether it be in helping with the construction or fundraising, please contact a Booster Club officer and they will put you in touch with those that have been working on the project already.  Also you may recall that last winter we had a very generous donor come forward with a 1:1 dollar match up to $25,000 specifically for this project!  If you are interested in making a donation to help us get that $25,000 match, please contact Tiffany Moen, Katie Richards or Jeremy Strand.

Upcoming events for the year will be the annual Volleyball and Football tailgating suppers, Turkey Dinner, Chili & Baked Potato feed and maybe a fish fry or two closer to spring.  New this fall will be a boys and girls 3:3 Basketball Tournament in October so be on the lookout for more information about that as we will be needing help with this event!

Wishing you a great school year!
