Today’s featured business is Jacobson Studio!
Ron’s Photography was started in the fall of 1978 after Ron Jacobson received his Photography Degree in 1977. Ron and his wife Toni started their portrait studio from their house in Finley. In 1982 they added a second location in Mayville; becoming their only location in 1984. The name was changed to Jacobson Studio and Framing to encompass the art and the custom framing and matting they offered.
During the 1990’s and early 2000’s they had a second location in Grand Forks, to offer art, photography and gifts. They closed that location to concentrate on Mayville around 2010. Their location in downtown Mayville is in the ‘oldest’ commercial building built in Mayville.
They have employed as many as 8 people at both locations over the years, but currently are a husband and wife team with seasonal help.
Services include portraits of all types, wedding coverage, school and sports photography; along with commercial photography for businesses and institutions, along with custom framing and matting that can customize art and photography for peoples homes and businesses. Copying old photos and providing passport photos is also part of their services.
Ron and Toni have done it all, starting with film photography; even doing their own processing and printing for many years; to being one of the first studios in the 1990’s to work with digital.
Ron is one of the highest, decorated Professional Photographers in North Dakota with both a Masters Degree and Craftsman Degree, along with Certification from the Professional Photographers of America, 2 National Awards and 9 times North Dakota Photographer of the Year, and many other awards. He has been on the Photographic World Cup Team representing USA and has had 2 images be part of the Grand Imaging Awards (top 10 in each category entered). That is special because they are judged from upwards of 7000 prints each year.
Toni is also a Craftsman and has a National Award. Both served their State and Regional associations on boards all the way up to Presidents. They were the first husband and wife to both serve as Presidents of those organizations.
Ron and Toni continue to service their customers with quality portraits, fine art, framing and products that their clients can share and cherish for years.
